Wilcox, AZ

I am still functioning on Central Time Zone, so we were up very early and on the road.  We were into Arizona before we knew it.  Last year the State of Arizona had closed most of it's rest areas due to budget cuts so we weren't sure what to expect this year.  We were pleased to see the first rest area, the Welcome Center, was open.  These signs were posted in several spots around the rest area to remind us to be cautious.  But like I said before, the critters are all hibernating.

Two years ago we stumbled upon the Fort Bowie Vineyards and stopped at their little shop.  We stopped there last year and, guess what, we stopped there again today!  There is nothing really extra special about this shop over any other of the many in this part of the country other than that it was easy to get to and we can park the bigass RV easy enough in front of it.  We bought some pecans, pistachios, fudge, and a bottle of their wine.

This is one of their orchards...it's either pecan, walnut, or pistachio.  I have no idea. 

 We planned to stop in Wilcox for the night, but we got there around noon due to my early rising this morning so we checked in to the RV park just outside of town and then went to look for lunch.  Apparently this is "the" place to eat in Wilcox.  It's an old railroad dining car built for the Santa Fe Railroad by the Pullman Company.   It has continued its dining tradition by conversion to a restaurant.  You know it has to be good when there are not one, but two, big smokers outside.
